Howdy people

Much as I love the security of having the immobiliser (keypad type) in my P1, it means having all the plastic cowling and crap around it, which I'm looking to remove.

Can anyone think of a decent alternative to having the immobiliser? The car's get perspex windows and sliders so is extremely easy to break into (except at home it's in a locked garage, but if I leave it somewhere) so I don't want to just go without anything.

Seeing how simple the wiring is on the car I can't imagine they'd be that hard to hotwire, so I really want to keep the car secured.

However that big bit of plastic is annoying me and costing me an extra 100 grams or so in extra weight! Clearly it has to go.

Has anyone got any ideas what I could do instead to stop people nicking the car? It's a dedicated track car so really doesn't have to be anything tidy.

O.

Hmm, hadn't thought about taking the ECU Smile

Removable steering wheel I've already got but haven't fitted yet, not sure the missus'd be up for stuffing that into her bag if we're out mind LOL

Aah just had a thought - what if the thieving chav happened to have a spare unlocked 306 ECU with him? Then he'd be laughing.

Yeah that's a good shout. Might also do what my dad used to do with his bikes and put an engine cut-off switch somewhere under a seat you couldn't find it.

Is it safe to just interrupt the fuel pump power to stop it delivering fuel? Or would this cause some kind of injector/engine problem?

I guess you could get a perm unlocked ecu and remove the immobiliser ? Check how the 205 boys work the 6 engine on their cars ? Guess you could then put a battery switch somewhere sneaky in the car and use that to immobilise the car ???

Looked at that, but the keypad's moulded into the plastic, can't imagine a tidy way of doing it really. I'll have a closer look tomorrow.

What you trying to say about my pile of French? It's got the build quality of an Audi I'll let you know.
