Is there something (other than elbow grease) i can use to get old paint off my alloys. They arent badly curbed, but very badly corroded so ideally want them back to metal so i can repaint.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Have them sandblasted.

If they are in a very poor condition it would probably be better to have them done professionally.

Are the wheels coated "From the Factory" or have they been painted since

Several Methods

Shotblast (low Pressure, say 12-14cfm gun should do.
Paint stripper Method 1 (cheaper)
Nitro Mors Paint stripper, apply liberally, wait 15 mins, apply 3 further coats with waiting time inbetween, then scrape, wire brush, to remove residue, careful where you put the rubbish.

Method 2
Buy Plastic 45 gall drum, cut in 2, fill with Nitro Mors or equivelent paintstripper, note only fill over the part you want stripping,ie 3-4 inches up the wheel, Nitro mors is £35 for 5 litre. Leave over night Remove into other half of drum with warm soapy water, or steam clean, again be careful where your waste goes, not into the watercourse

3 heat gun
Heat with heat gun, burn & scrape

Im pretty sure they are from the factory as the bloke i bought the car off had it from new and like i say they are pretty f*cked.

I paid £900 for the car and its not worth spending the money on having them refurbed properly, i wasnt going to bother at all but i found a set of steelies with tyres locally for £20 so thought i would DIY it as i already have the paint etc. i did the ones on my 6 and they turned out fine, but they werent as corroded as these.

Where is the best place to get this nitromors stuff from?

I should add, dont go wading in using the Nitro Mors, when you buy it get Health/Safety sorted, Proper gloves, respirator, Goggles & Paper sprayers overall.

seriously, Read the Instructions, inhalation & getting any on your skin is extremely harmful.

You might want to try Your Local Paintspray Suppliers they will do a quality paintstripper.

Just lifted this of the Nitro fact sheet, Limited evidence of a carcinogenic effect. Harmful by inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed. Harmful: possible risk of irreversible
effects through inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed.

The one in the Youtube Vid is probably methylene chloride, cheaper but just as dangerous, same system, but cover the methylene chloride, with layer of water to stop evaporation
