Dear All,
I recently noticed that every now and then there is a drop of coolant under the car. Really just a drop or two.
Poking about the engine bay whilst the engine was running I finally discovered a joint in the hose going to the thermostat that was steaming.
So there is a crack, clearly.
Joy of joys is that the hose is labelled NFP in Service Box. Samco only has hoses for the GTi6.
Are there any alternatives I should be aware of?
Thank you!

Not sure what an MK4 is.
The hoses they picture as the ones for the model don't look that familiar to be honest.

They are definitely the hoses for an S16 (got them on mine). Samco don't make hoses for the gti6 despite quite a few people on this forum asking them to.

Think so, comes from the left side of the radiator and goes to the thermostat.

Good news, thank you Smile
Is it a complete set then?
The hose running to the bottom of the rad is a "double" hose on mine and the Samco kit does not seem to have that?

It's most of the hoses but not the bottom hoses. IIRC it's the top hose, the 2 heater matrix hoses, and 2 smaller hoses that join a couple of metal coolant hoses together. Some where there is a thread with a picture describing which one goes where, i'll see if I can find it.

looking at the samco website and comparing to the servicebox data it does look like a samco top hose might do the job.

Found it:

I've got them fitted to mine but no guide. it took me a while to work out where 2 of them went Razz

1= Main Hose from radiator connected to heat exchanger
2= from the heat exchanger to the connection underneath the thermostat housing
3=heater matrix hose Right hand side of the matrix connection goes to the thermostat area.
4=heater matrix hose closest to the brake servo to the back of the engine
5=Small pipe not pictured from the thermostat housing to the metal pipe that no 1 connects to.

Couple of things I have just thought of, the main top hose connects to a metal pipe that goes under the throttle body, there is then a small piece of hose that connects this metal pipe to the thermostat housing. So if it's definitely that pipe thats leaking then it should be fairly easy to get a replacement piece. Another thing to check is that the bleed screw on the thermostat housing isn't weeping and making it look like it's the pipe.

Thank you very much!
Helps a great deal Smile
The thermo housing _was_ weeping but that I was able to deal with - this one is a bit harder, but defo it's that one.
I will order a set then Smile

Thank you too Smile
God knows why Samco opted to have S16 hoses instead of GTi6 ones - but thats my luck Smile

because they don't have any fittings moulded into the hoses like the 6 does.

Still, I would make kits that have a bigger market.
Unless the Mi16 / S16 is more frequent in motorsports - but not likely.
Got contacted by Merlin Motorsports on behalf of Samco, the kit costs 178 pounds delivered to Hungary.
Plus 5-6 weeks Sad
