Rear wheel drive is one thing, but rear wheel drive with traction control is fookin awful.

Indeed. Try a VW LT 35 LWB with a car trailer and a 406 on the back in the snow. Who ever thought using the brakes as a way of improving traction should be taken out and shot.

Got it stuck in a cul-de-sac on a slight hill. Managed to stop it about a foot away from someones house. Took most of the cul-de-sac to get it moving again = me not a popular man LOL

Yeah Corby's not great, my street is also a complete shadow trap! Days after the snow and frost is gone, it will still be an ice rink!

Front wheel drive for the winter win!

Bloody stupid idea, who'd brake individual rear wheels for more traction eh?

Lol +1 about tc when I had my Leon with its bells and whistles I got stuck on a steep hill in snow/ice till I remembered my tcs button

can turn mine off and its not very hilly round here but anywhere that is and is very snowy i can imagine it stalling the engine constantly without a off button.

My beemer's been fantastic in the snow (touch wood!) i leave the tcs on unless it's for little stuff. Just need to be very gentle and not encourage it to come on- if you drive normally and expect it to pick up the peices then i'd imagine it'd be awful.

ABS is very sensitive though, comes on at the slightest hint of loss of traction which is annoying. It's odd as I would have hated TCS in the 306 but with a large, heavy, powerfull car on wide rear tyres it helps with the every-day stuff.

to be fair its hardly snowed here LOL

must say this is the first time ABS actually seems ok but with snow and mud tyres on it never kicks in for long just means you can keep steering while braking

IIRC the fuse also covers something else important.

As I said on the previous page, just pull one of the ABS sensor connectors..
