The lock on my 306 has just fell out, I removed the door panel and have tried placing the lock fix fork into the lock but the door lock has no visable groves to hold the fork on.

So , my question is, has anyone ever done this? how do it do it? Do i have a part missing.

the fork goes in from the side, not from underneath.

i thought that to start with however, underneath the lovk barel is a space where the fork fits, ill take a look tomorrow.

Are there meant to be groves so that it fits into the lock barel?

There should be a space at the top and the bottom that the clip fits behind when you slide it on sideways, it should be slid on from the rear of the door and pushed towards the front of the car although I have fitted them the opposite way to make life easier without causing problems.
If you hold the lock in your hand you should be able to see clearly how it will hold the barrel.

Have a look on the inside of your door, is there a plate bonded onto the back of the door skin around the hole where the lock goes through?
This plate effectivly acts as a washer for when you fit the fork clip to make it all tight and if it isnt there you wont be able to do it properly.

If your not sure what I mean post a pic of the inside of your door.

When you turn the key, it just moves the plastic thing up and down

Sounds like you havent located the plastic hook in the door's lock mechanism correctly.

I don't get what you mean by at 45 degrees. You dont mean the angle the key goes in do you?

the key goes in at the normal angel (|) and the plastic hook just slotted into the lock mechanism, i will have another play with it tomorrow and see what i can do.

Failing that i will have to take a lok over the other side and see how its MEANT to be lol
