After going out in Moz's Gti6 I was well impressed with the feel of the 306 with the 6 speed box ;Wink

Felt quite like the 309 on the road, but ALOT newer and more comfortable Smile

I have apologised to Andy(jord294) for taking the p*ss out of his Gti6 when he had oneBlush

So had a scan on the net,and registered on this forum and soon decided I wanted the Rallye version of the Gti6

Ended up with two red onesDoh

Bought the T reg one, then a week later the V reg came up for sale local with a snapped cambelt, loads of history/receipts,74k on the clock,in much better condition/colour than the T reg

So while the heads away being repaired I thought I would underseal the car

But,then I got carried away!

Powerwashed it off and realised it would be a shame to cover such a clean underside in shitty black underseal

So this happened

All areas in silver had surface rust, alot was under the underseal like on the 309's.Taken back to bare/pitted metal then treated/painted with Rust bullet

Then after three coats of non-drip gloss you get this:

Rear arches received the same treatment, again found surface rust under the uderseal

306's WILL be rotten just like 309's in a few years if not given some loving

Then the boot floor got the treatment

Will be cutting the heatshield down,as I won't be running with the spare under the back

Gave the rear panel a good clean and a good coat of polish:

Removed the sideskirts, these fade badly on Red Rallyes,so they have been painted :ymsmug: base and laquer,so will never fade again

Removed rear lights and cleaned up behind them, few years of dirt behind them:

Refitted rear bumper with new number plate, this is how it stands at the minute:

Smile

Looking good Kev. Cool

You'll have to get the polish out for the exhaust now, or it will look out of place against all the shininess! Laugh

How hard wearing will the gloss paint be? I would imagine most of the high impact areas are shielded by the arch liners?

I Wonder what paints close in colour to astor grey?

Ive been looking at stuff called Rustoleum (sp). They do it in various shades of grey and the uk distributors only up the road in sunny Wolverhampton, so i'll give them a shout as well.

Cheers,T reg is sold nowWink

Was pretty clean underneath TBH after jet washingSmile
Its prob took me about 20 hours work to do the underside at a rough guess, obviously that does not include time waiting for paint to dry, pain in the arse at this time of year waiting for paint to dry before re-coatingDry

What did you use to take the paint off with.

Drill and wire brush attachment?

Then get the paint on super quick before it rusts afterwards?

Various drill attachments, wire wheels/rust removal discs/flap discs etcSmile

Cleaned any bare metal with Blast Off,its a light acid that treats rust and acid etches bare metal.

Then painted bare metal ASAP with Rust bullet, two coats of thatCool
