yo! ive been giving a mate a hand doing some bits on his mi16 205, he had a powder coated gti6 inlet manifold to go on. this has been fitted and is up and running, (be intresting to see if theres much of a gain).

well when i say up and running it starts but as the idle control valve isnt connected it revs straight upto 4k. has anyone fitted the 6 inlet on a mi16 engine? the problem is the icv's are different and the sensor plugs are different too.
i want to get a gti6 sensor plug (4pin) and use the 205 wiring (mi16 2 wire) and find which two are the right wires/pins. but im not a wiring genious and don't know the wiring circuits

any help always appreciated.Big grin

Yes but to a 2.0 sorry LOL

PM DrSarty, he was sorting fitting one to a 1.9 last week sometime, not sure how far along he had got but was sorting Throttle switches when I spoke to him, yu need to use the 8 valve or 1.9 MI16 switch as the 2.0 and gti6 use a potentiometer, they fit differently so need some modifying or a bracket of some sort, Rich will be able to say more as he's actually had the bits in front of him.

You will need to remove the gti6 ICV body from the plastic housing and make a blanking plate to cover the hole left, then plumb the Mi16 ICV to the takeoff that goes to the inlet elbow.

I doubt there will be much BHP gain, but torque is where I think they work better, will be interesting to see, I never saw the 2.0 I put together on a RR or against another 205 Mi16 but it did go well.

so is the black plastic resonator thing need to stay?
ill give Drsarty a pm see how he's got on.

Yeah with the mi16 and gti6 inlets side by side the 6 one deffinatly is designed better and looks like it will flow better too.

also fitted a nissens rad, mocal oil cooler and battery to boot so should be a good few upgrades.Smile

Yes you need to swap TPS's, the mi one is very basic, The spindle of the buttlefly needs to be longer for it to fit thou

we originally tried to use the standard throttle position sensor but it doesnt quite bolt up, so the gti6 one went back on. the mi16 sensor does fit but will it give in accurate readings?

still unsure how the icv needs plumbing up?

think ive got it in theory sorted. ill fit a take off into the silicone pipe (between tb+afm) then a pipe into the mi16 icv, the outlet pipe runing into the modified gti6 icv. simples
then fit the standard mi16 tps with a modified bracket to hold in place.

it possible to do away with the AFM if the 2.0 mi16 ecu is used?

That's what I said earlier LOL

Can't see any major issues stopping you running a 2.0 ECU on there, you would need to fit a 2.0 cam cover (so the coilpacks fit) and inlet cam and thermostat housing (for the cam position sensor) might be something else to sort on it too to get the cam sensor on there.

LOL yeah you did. dont think at the time i had my head around it quite.

we'll get it running on the 1.9 afm etc first then think about swaping to 2.0 bits at a later date.

would you use the 1.9 or gti6 injectors?

The 2.0 ECU will not run them (Gti6) at all and without a remap even on the S16 engine it doesn;t really like it that much.
The old Motronic is quite flexable in that respect

right more issues, plumbed in the icv and it does idle, well only on 2 cylinders i believe. you can do anything to the throttle and doesnt make a difference to the revs just sometimes cuts out. it also backpops through the inlet and out the exhaust too.
if injector plug 1,2 or 4 one at a time are disconected no diference but as soon as 3 is disconected it cuts out.
tested the injectors and fuel coming out all 4. spark on all 4 too.
any ideas?

also if you spray a bit of easy start equivelent into the afm it picks up, so wouldnt that lead to an air leak or a fuel issue.
cant find or see any air leaks, also theres fuel coming out of all 4 injectors
