any ideas gents my rallye has decided to blow cold air when on highest hot setting when on idol its freezing but when driving it improves slightly and gets a little warmer but not much?? recently done head gasket and was fine for few months ive got no water in passenger footwell, and when blowers are on i can smell a slight wiff of coolantany ideas please

Get ready to start to see water in the footwells.

I hate to break it to you but that is classic matrix about to go symptoms.

AIr block as well and hope the thermostat was changed when the head gasket was sorted

Try bleeding the system first Wink

I agree, could be matrix

Was the system bled properly after its refill? try bleeding it from all points whilst warm, start with rad screw, then thermostat then heater matrix pipes


I did my own matrix a few months back, it sounds and looks quite daunting, but i had a friend help me out and it makes it go a lot smoother, id of had it done in 3 hrs if it hadnt been for snapping the matrix pipes :grr

had everythin genuine from pug when gasket done thermostats x 2 n that didnt solve problem bleed up and re bleed but no change i was surprised to not see a wet footwell yet tho best get the tools out!! ps guys there is 2 types of matrix which one do i need as rallye n 6s are different i think?

You need Valeo mate, well thats presuming your Rallye doesnt have the air con option, then it will be the BEHR unit

is your engine running hot? if your over heating at idle then i'd say your thermostat is shot.

if thats ok...then like the others say, matrix Sad
