Just trying to remove my box now so I can fit a new clutch.

Both driveshafts are now free, it was a fight to get the drivers side out though as the bearing wouldn't move from its housing.

However.. there is a lot of play in the diff where the drive shafts go in.. is this normal? I'm a tad worried.. Shock

Secondly, any tips on removing those pesky gear linkages? Its all rather tight to get hands into, and they seem rather well held on.

Cheers, any replies greatly appreciated Smile

Thanks for your reply Smile

Speedo housing is off and on the floor, all I can see in either end of the gearbox is bearings!

that'll be why there's play in the diff bearings, the speedo housing bears on the right hand bearing, a spacer/shim goes between them to remove any play, though they only have the one size of spacer.

Ok, came to re-assemble the whole lot and managed to break one of the white plastic nylon gear fork bushes at the top.

The bottom one felt seized and was dry as a bone. Anyone know where I can get a new set from? Ebay shows a few under 'clutch fork bush' but they're taking the p*ss and asking for over £10 delivered...

Thanks once again welshpug :p

Managed to get some delivered from my local peugeot dealer for about £2 (yes, he couldn't find a way to charge the postage!)

So.. another question.. is it ok to use copper grease in the bottom of the fork bush? The old one was pretty dried out and seized up, although I'm slightly concered as I read somewhere that copper grease is slightly abbrasive.

It's either copper grease or general purpose EP (something) agricultural grease we have kicking about here on the farm.

Thanks once again, John.

just a tiny bit of moly or whatever you have, that red teflon stuff is great, indeed copper grease has metal bits in it and is not a lubricant.
