hi

i am new to the 306 scene and i have some questions about wheels, spacers and stuff

i have got some 16" oz alloy wheels,, that require 15mm spacers, i have had the wheels ballanced and when i get to speeds over 60mph the wheels play up,, vibrating like mad,, i took them back to tha ballancing place and the bloke checked the wheels and said the wheels are fine and blamed the spacers,, the spacers are wolfrace hubsentric and are brand new...

so

i have been offered some standard 14" 106 gti alloy wheels that are perfectly ballanced but in need of 2 tyres,,

i am just after any advice/pointers as i dont know what to do for the best Sad

16"= get the wheels checked and balanced yourself

spacer should be fine if they are the correct centrebore and fitment

14"= won't fit over gti6 calipers

As long as spacer sits to the hub and the wheel sits nice and snug to it it wont cause problems, a mate had the same issues and when his ford fit wheels and 20mm spacers were put on my car my car was fine with them, i lent him some spare cyclones i had and still his car gave vibrations

i wanted to route out what was causing it but when i had a spare evening to go over his i found out he'd sold the car on (with my cyclones on it Angry) so never found out why it was doing it

do you know anyone with a Peugeot/Citroen that you could try their wheels on your car

i have tried steel wheels and they did not vibrate and went over 90 with no problems,,

i just think the bloke at the ballancing place is trying to shaft me Sad

either that or the 16" oz wheels are buckled and no amount of ballancing will sort them Sad

if its the ballancing you will only have the problem at a certain speen, say 70-90 or 85-105mph everytime my wheels havnt been ballanced right it tends to show between a 20mph gap at a certain speed
