So, coverting a LHD 2.0 16v xsi to a gti6. My customer would like to have the gti6 steering rack so the nearside wheel doesn't rub on the box.

Three Questions...

1) Can we put a stop on the original xsi rack?

2) Can we use a RHD rack from a gti6 and convert it to LHD?

3) Where the feck can we get a LHD rack for a six?

Thanks in advance.

The turning circle isnt limited on the rack.

Its limited to the length of the ram.

You take the ram off a 6 and turn full lock right it will rub Smile

Okay, so by the looks of things we should be able to use the six ram on the xsi rack?

Just tell him to learn not to turn too much to the right- sounds daft but when i was running without PAS on the GTi rack it took about an hour to learn the max lock.

The problem is that the car has to go through the Israeli MOT before it'll get signed off and be allowed to be driven in the country.

I'm thinking of just putting a stop on his ram somewhere/somehow

You could slide a metal collar over the rack bar on the os to reduce lock

I was thinking about that actually, just flip it over and fabricate myself some copper lines?
