some people say there is a plastic inlet manifold available for the 6's and they increase power and airflow because the plastic inlet manifolds keep the air temp cooler???

LOL LOL
only one manifold for the 6 and its alloy

think they could mean the 1.9 and 2.0 mi16 engines, 1.9 has alloy and the 2.0 mi16/s16 engine has plastic

only part of the 2.0 is platic
there is a huge chunk of metal attached to the head prior to the plastic inlet runners.

In theory your mate is right, a plastic inlet manofold would do a much better lob of keeping the inlet air temp down as it does'nt transfer heat anywhere near as well as aluminium does. So if you could mould an exact copy of the ally one in plastic you would be laughing (BMW use plastic inlets in lots of their cars and they know a thing or two about making a good motor) but as it seems the best shaped manifold is the one the car comes with use that Smile

If induction heat is bothering you, duct a cold air feed from a foglight hole and if that's not enough bolt on one of Phill's PTFE inlet gaskets to insulate the mani from the heat of the head.
