Hi,

Can anyone offer any advice on the follow results from my MOT.

1.(too high) Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content at idle excessive [7.3.D.2c]

2.(too high) Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide after 2nd fast idle excessive [7.3.D.3b]

3.(too high) Exhaust emissions hydrocarbon content after 2nd fast idle excessive [7.3.D.2b]

4.Exhaust emissions Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits [7.3.D.3b}

Any advice would be greatly appreciated so that I can try and get it sorted tomorrow.

He never gave me any, wasn't very helpful to be honest. I'll take it to a different garage tomorrow as its a bit out of my league I think.

wont be on the red sheet, would be on a separate printout directly from the emissions testing machine.

Rang them up this morning, they said they couldn't find it but offered to re run the test for free.

This time he said the results were completely different but still an MOT fail.

fast idle test: CO=1.299
second fast idle test: CO=0.934

He said yesterday it also failed on the natural idle test with a CO score of around 8.0 but today it passed at 0.208

suggested I replace the lambda. Any thoughts?

I just had the same issue and suggestion of lambda and they said they'd get back to me tomorrow (so they can get some prices to give me a quote to do the work).

Would giving the lambda a clean with some carb cleaner do anything for the emissions or not really?
I've very little money to spend on the car this month! LOL
