My cars indicators keep flashing randomly...

They only flash when I don't want them to when:

- The car is parked
- The car is locked, only lock it with single push of central locking button
- No one is in the car before you ask
- It doesn't do it straight away, but its did it 10mins after I've left it at work, and a few hours after I've left it over night.
- It has had a new battery last week, which runs perfectly
- Car has been serviced last week, it flashed before and after the service so spark plugs are fine etc not like that would effect the indicators but I'd thought I'd mention it just in case something crops upRoll eyes
- Alarm siren box was removed yesterday evening, from the passenger wheel arch, but it still flashed its indicators around 2am this morning!
- Alarm LED light in the interior still flashes, even though the siren has been removed. I thought removing the alarm would stop draining the battery if it was this that was faulty and the LED wouldn't flash?

I can only assume the following is happening;
- Either an insect has got into the car and keeps setting the siren less alarm off, mostly over night or;
- There is a fault elsewhere, maybe something else in the alarm relay needs to be disconnected?

I don't think its a short circuit somewhere because it never does it when I'm in the car, only when its locked up and been stood still for a few minutes/hours.

Any ideas whats causing it to happen and what I can do to stop it?

I'll be putting a bit of tape over the movement sensors tonight and will leave it there for a few days, see if that stops the problem.

HmmmmUnsure

I've read the FAQ, but I'm still unsure until I try a few things.

Would it seem sensible to do the following next...

"Deadlocking, no alarm

Turn key in drivers door and hold until you hear a second locking sound. This sets WITHOUT any alarm - ie when you get 100% hacked off with it.

Unlock by fob or key."

If I do this for a few days, and the indicators no longer flash, I know then its 100% to do with the alarm. The only thing on my mind is I have removed the siren from the wheel arch, so surely the alarm is now disconnected and no longer using any battery power?

yeh man put the key in the ignition and give the key one flick in the barell so you DONT start the car all your lights just light up on the dash ! then press and hold the ultra sonic button for 10 seconds and you should see your hazard lights flash , had the same problem with mine after it got broken in to

Cheers, will give it a go. Will that turn the ultrasonics off until I unlock the car next time, or will they be off until I do something to turn them back on?

I may well be wrong here, especially if you've got a phase 3, but isn't it the headlights that flash when the alarm is going off? I'm sure it was on my ph2 xsi.

If you have removed the battery then it will deffinately be your ultrasonics which are faulty - setting your "alarm" off every 5 minutes. Follow Jim's instructions to disable the ultrasonics. Previous owner of mine had them done as it kept going off 10 times a night. I think they are £70 each, but that figure may be wrong, I need to check the paper work.

Just as a side note Jamma, you really should be pressing the lock button on the fob twice so you deadlock the car. Something as simple as that could stop your car being broken into and nicked.

I'm sure i said in another thread its your ultrasonics, and a non functioning alarm siren. Can probably tape up the ultrasonics as a test as well.

Phase 3's arm the siren whether you plip once or deadlock Thumbs up

To confirm the above, the flashing indicators is the alarm going off due to faulty ultrasonics.

Definately faulty ultrasonics and non working siren as Nev said Yes
