Anyone used Poorboys products?

Opinions?

I have heard they are pretty good so have just ordered the below, will update with the results once I have tried it all out.

Poorboys Super Slick & Suds Car Shampoo
Poorboys Polish With Sealant
Poorboys Natty's Paste Wax (Blue)
Poorboy’s Clay Bar XL
Poorboys Swirl Remover #2
Poorboy's Quick Detailer +
Poorboy’s Spray and Rinse Wheel Cleaner
Poorboys Bold n Bright Tyre Dressing
Poorboys Wheel Sealant
Poorboy’s Bug Squash
Poorboy's Natural Look Dressing
Poorboy’s Trim Restorer

if you've seen any shots of my car on the forum then you'll know how good they are. I havent mentioned it but after the initial clean on my 'seriously shiny' thread I bought a megs g220 DA, megs soft buff finishing pad, megs soft buff polishing pad and some poorboys swirl remover. 1+2. now using the following products as they are that good

super swirl remover #1
super swirl remover #2
natural look dressing
black hole show glaze
quick detailer +
bug squash
mega plush microfibre towel
waffle weave drying towel

will be getting some polish and wax as soon as the remaining megs and collonite runs out

all are much better than any other products ive used in the past

and machine polishing the swirl removers is the best way. doing by hand is a lot of work and you risk scratching the laquer if you dont work the abrasives out completely.

car looks really good in those shots mate. well done, hope you're happy with it.Smile

heres a quick snap of mine

I get my stuff from this site. great service and best prices i can find on the majority of it. certainly not £20 for trim restorer! detailed obsession

Looks awesome mate Smile

Yeah I got half the stuff I bought from detailed obsession. But I found The Ultimate Finish were cheaper for quite a few of the products. So got around half from each.

What colour to people reckon for my brake calipers? As I am going to paint them. (Diablo with anthracite speedline turinis)

I was thinking yellow as I quite like yours in the above pic

What paint did you use?

I think yellow or a copper colour would look great behind the ant turini's.

I used a small tin of Hammerite smooth from Halfrauds which is about £5-6 tin which is enough to do all four calipers ten times over LOL

Just a note on the deswirlers.
If you use #2 by hand, then it will work as a #2.
If you use #2 with a MOP, then it will cut closer to that of the #2.5 deswirler so go easy with it Smile

Poorboys wheel sealant is great stuff, the dirt/brake dust on the inside of the wheel just wipes of. It also smells lovely Yes.

As for the trim stuff the best stuff that lasts for ever is plasticare from eBay. For some reason i cant do links on other peoples threads.

I might go for yellow then.

I was thinking of using Hammerite

Thanks for the tip. I might experiment with the deswirler by hand first and see what it does.

Then use a rotary for the heavier marks.

I hate people perpetuating this myth. I kept reading this and went for a DA, Used a rotary on a training day and realised that DA polishers = FAIL. They take ages to get the results that a rotary gets really quickly.

You have to be a bit of a mong to seriously damage the paint with a rotary too.

Well how exactly do you do damage with a rotary? So that I can avoid it. Too much pressure?

^^^which leads to too much heat, air cooled foam pads let air in to cool it down.

tbh rotary needs confidence. ive never used one and i bought a DA as ive seen results from a rotary which scare me. I didnt want to buy one and ruin a perfectly acceptable panel practicing. and as a DA brings out results which lets be honest are pretty damn good for cars which are not ferraris or zondas or 40 yr old jags at show 'n' shine competitions. If you can practice with a rotary or have the confidence to use one then get one, they do give the most amazing results. but dont for a second think that a DA is uselss. the products available are top notch these days and can make any car look good. and a DA is idiot proof. I dont use the handle on mine and was taking a bird dropping mark off the old dears mini today, polisher in one hand and a sandwich in the other!

Iv used 2 DA's and they dont get rid of swirl marks, they do a good job to make a good shine but nothing like a rotary one. If you take your time with the rotary one and keep checking the panel it will be fine.

fair enough about the rotary but I've had roughly 50% of my car sprayed since I've owned it and DA'd the whole car last autumn and the old paint looks just as good as the new paint. no swirls at all.Big grin

I already have a rotary so I think I will just have a go with that carefully rather than go out and buy a DA.

All the products have arrived now, just being using them. I got to the stage where I needed to apply wax and realised they have missed it out of the box! So got to wait another couple of days until it arrives before I can continue. But here's some pics of just washed and clayed.

Autoglym wheel brush. Didn't use it though, as the poorboy's wheel cleaner did the job without the need for brushing!
