I have had a little search for this and although there's so many threads relating to the clutch cable I couldn't actually find anything specific to my problem, so here goes:

Basically I was on my way home last night and for some reason decided to give it a very minor hoon in 1st gear as I turned onto the main road. As I changed up to second I heard a small pop and a short scraping noise from under the car which I thought was strange, but when I got home it was too dark to see anything.

So I've had a look at it today and somehow the 2 rear clips for the undertray have popped off and it's now hanging down about 2 inches off the floor. Also the clutch cable is hanging down on top of it, as if the cable itself may have pushed the undertray off.

What I also noticed is that the cable has worn away quite a large chunk of the undertray (in fact it looks more like it's melted it but I assume that's not possible as it shouldn't get that hot?). Should they even be in contact? I pulled the clutch cable back up into it's original position but it soon fell down again.

So what I'm really asking is the following:

1. Any ideas as to what may have actually happened? To me it simply looks like my clutch cable has pushed the undertray off, but is that even possible?
2. Reasons why the cable is hanging down?
3. Suggestions for getting it to stay in position?
4. Is it normal for the clutch cable to wear away the undertray so much?

I should also add that I do have juddering problems with my clutch but from what I've read that may not be directly related. Other than that the clutch itself works fine, well, other than being a little on the heavy side.

As always any help will be appreciated.

Your clutch cable should be attached via a braket on the front of your subframe (pictures are in one of the FAQ's).

Funny as to why its hanging down and or got hot ?
