Yeah to say I was dissapointed is an understatement.

I have got ¾ of the sparkplugs out sofar but one is stuck, garage reckon that explains the lack of power when it comes on cam but they may just have been being nice...

If its f*ckde I need input from someone on whether I replace the engine, or have it rebuilt?

Thoughts please !!!

Just swapped plugs out for new ones, it's definately better - the knocking is not there until 2.3k+ revs

Doesn't sound rattly/tinny anymore either, just the knocking Sad!!! (Does on the video tho!)

Any ideas - I have taken a video will try and get it on the PC.

gutted for you fella.

if this happens to me id either replace with a used item or transplant a v6 or 8v turbo. Yes

the cost or rebuild is around 1k iirc although i may be wrong.

all depends how much money and time you are prepaired to part with. Sad

No as it will cause more damage, it sounds like it has spun a shell and the crank will need re grinding etc.

I can imagine, that's the worst part about all this, my lump was very good, never had any issues Sad

FWIW, that engine was an absolute stonker before this...so strong and never gave any issues. I'd think abuot having someone professional look it over, give you a quote then make the decision.

Real shame Sad

Other option is buy a donor car? Strip for spares? At least then you'll know how the engine runs.
