What is the crack with fitting cams, is it a job i could do myself?

How clever are you? If you are a dimwit, no, if you can read a haynes manual and have a decent selection of tools and some experience of working on engines then yes. However if you have to ask, probably best not to do it without someone who has done it before to help.

What cams are you thinking of fitting?

standard or aftermarket? standard shouldnt be too hard for anyone with the tools, but aftermarket can require settings up to makesure valves dont hit pistons, and is usually done with dti's and other measuring equipement.

am i right in assuming that it's best only to upgrade the intake?, does that only apply to the 270 cams or can it be done on 285's as well? (piper)

i am looking to get some aftermarket cams yea, not sure what yet i am still looking into it. during this year at some point i am looking to get some wossner pistons but was going to get cams first. i have taken an engine apart befor with my dad and i do have the tools but just havnt looked into changing cams
