Update...

After playing around with the bump steer kit on the steering rack, and still knowing theres a lot of cost to getting the suspension how I'd like and my mate Craig having Colins full suspension kit including rear coilovers makes it hard to resist. The amount of wet grip is unbelievable, ride is lovely and its feels so solid on turn in, braking, power etc so I have just ordered a complete front end setup from Colin.

so Saturday was French Car Show at Combe. I booked a 2 hour open pit session, started off in the wet and by the end of the session was bone dry and blue sky!

Its now had a few decent polishes since being sprayed earlier this year, Im pleased with the amount of shine it has now

also had some decals left from a 306 rallye decal set so changed the front ones which I think makes it look much cleaner

Looking great as always. What does the satchell kit consist of? Been looking around for my own 205 but can never seem to find to much info on his stuff apart from the fact it's awesome.

What do you run currently up front?

Modified, strengthened and re worked subframe with different wishbone pick up points, Tubular wishbones with rose joint inners, 406 front hubs with screw in ball joints, revised bump steer and roll centre, rose jointed steering rack, no front ARB.

Currently I run a standard 205 gti subframe, 309 wishbones, Xsara VTS Rack and a 205 front arb.

Colin's own 205 race car setup is this. The production ones are worked from the standard subframe

I take it he doesn't have a site or even a list of products/prices etc. I know the gear lever kit can be got from kam racing etc but everything else just seems word of mouth etch?

How long have you been building your car for? Just read through the whole lot and defiantly gives me a few ideas for mine although I'm a million miles away from yours lol

He does have a Facebook page, Satchell engineering. Most of his customers will just call him up and do business over the phone. To be honest I don't think he needs a website, works far enough in advance already and doesn't need the hassle of running a web shop. However if the likes of Kam Racing can order 10+ units and take that to market then fair play to them.

I bought my car in 2005 as my first car. Boggo 75hp beast.
Funny how you look back at threads, if I'd of built the car straight to as it is now could of saved a massive amount of cash, however project cars develop with the owner and his skill. At 17 I couldn't of built the car I have now.

no real exciting updates but I picked up a set of alloy rear quarter panel badges from a member on here. they use counter sunk bolts so can bolt on tight to the panel and will look pretty OE.

Two mains reasons for these really... No rattle coming from them with harderened engine mounts and anyone whos got a 205 track car will know that trim just loves to fall off! so reduces the chance of badges coming off on circuit. No matter how you try to fix it down!

They were in plain alloy so got sprayed up in matt black.

Long time no update on here.

I took the car to pugfest this year and kept having some clutch issues, not wanting to select gears etc on the journey there. The car behaved itself doing 6 runs then again played up on the way home. My thoughts were a clutch plate spring snapped however due to leaving my employer and setting up my own machinery dealership /traveling Thailand the cars been parked up since July.

So I was doing some work this afternoon at my new depot I had some time to check out what was up.

All springs snapped, a couple missing and two cracks....

Nor did I. Colin supplied it a few years back.

I'm thinking of going for one of these

http://www.spoox.co.uk/en/clutch-plates/5642-peugeot-106-gti-citroen-saxo-vts-helix-clutch-cover-1999-on.html

But not seen anyone using one before, just started a thread on drivers about clutches.

Don't know what that picture is of on Spoox but it isn't what the description is advertising... Personally I'd steer clear of anything sprung for heavy use, I've known too many to fail! I used to use an AP racing plate with a standard cover which worked well...

I wouldn't want to lose it and end up in that water, had that happen to me when I was 16 in the back of some dickheads car, it wasn't a pleasant experience.

It's quite a distance from the track. You couldn't actually get it in the sea!

Lol I was imagining a cliff and the sea below but maybe that's the ptsd water/car fear from 1996 lol

Make sure you order them direct with no Sprigots ....

Dunlop DZO3gs are the best track / road legal tyres
