Hi guys,

I asked the local shop to get me in some BV 75/80 gearbox oil like the car manual recommends but instead they got EP 75/80.

Is there any major difference and is this suitable to put into my gearbox?

Cheers

Hi mate I wondered what the difference between EP and BV was, that's all. The brand is "Comma"

The EP is a higher spec oil api gl-5 over the BV which is api gl-4 .I looked it up a while back though so check it out . Ep stood for extream pressure if memory serves.

Right, Halfords (i know...) have their own brand 75/80 or there is Castrol differential fluid, which says it can be used with manual gearboxes... failing that ECP have Car Lube. Which one? or does it really not matter too much?
