Yup, I think so! Laugh

I've had HG failure symptoms for a while now but the oil looked fine every time I checked it.

Stripped it down today to find this! The head is now off and at the engineers being cleaned, checked over and skimmed.

I suspect at times Rich wishes he didn't have to get mechanically minded enough for engine rebuilds! Mellow

What symptoms were you getting Rich?
Overheating?
Was there constant build up of mayo in the top of your oil cap that must have convinced you to take the head off?

Anyway, that looks like any 6 owners nightmare for sure!

I've seen loads of hg faliure and they are usually always between bores or lifting at the back of the block near the manifold - symptoms are usually miss fire on start up and pressurising water system with overheating . Poorly maintained cooling system and engines left standing in cars for long periods also cause failures
