It's probably correct: 6th gear at 60mph is about 3000rpm in a 6...

Well you originally asked if the ratios were "extremely short", suggesting they seemed obviously different from most other cars you're used to. Enough so infact, that you posted to see if its correct.

Therefore I thought it would be relevant to compare a simmilar vehicle to show that, no, it's not drastically out.
Moreover, it's probably spot on...Wink

how come nobody uses these boxes for sprint cars etc as they seem very sporty to me, shorter than a 1.9 gti box (205 etc) for sure.

the 8v xsi is a very revvy engine and required death given to it to progress atall in the slightest. bear in mind you can barely get past 110mph in the 8v xsi's as they run out of steam top end badly

i have an 8v xsi box mated to my s16 engine in my track car

mine seems to pull well past 110 (private road obviously) and isnt far off my brothers 130bhp 106 gti 80-100. I think its performing well due to recent head rebuilds and its been looked after mechanical wise as far as i can see.
Just got me thinking that was all as it seems a nice box for sprints etc on a 205 gti lump.
