Hi,

I noticed that my annoying sqeek is coming from my power steering pump pulley.

Are these possible to replace alone or would I need to relpace the whole system?

Many thanks,

Matt

The pulley might come off yes, but are you sure its that that is squeaking? Not a tensioner or the alternator? Might be low on fluid as well as the fluid lubricates the pump.

You can see the unit from the video, I tried to spray the pulley with spray grease and this made it a lot worse. So from this im guessing this is the problem.

I had the inner arch liner off and couldnt here anything, the noise seems to dissapear after 50 plus miles. The noise does quieten when I did my clutch.

Thanks,

Matt

You can sweat them off,did it on the last pump.the bearing is the same size as the one in richws tensioner pulley.worked great untill I found out I hadn't put the pulley back on at the right distance. So I've ended out having to get another pump and also an extra £16 for a new belt.

I've confused you a bit there I think!.what I ment was the bearing inside the pump is the same as rich uses in his pulleys.so if you were going to have a go then just ask him the size and you could get one ready.

Should be the same as any XU engine 306, but be careful as Peugeot have a habit of putting random PAS pumps and pulleys on their engines.

Hi can I just say that my steering has also been squeaking which we identified it was around the aux belt area or pump, we swapped the pump over and it was still doing it, looking further we identified it's actually the crankshaft pulley that is able to be spun by hand! And it has a Tight spot which is causing the belt and pulleys under load to squeak and then occasionally make a big whining noise! Only does it at slow speeds or low revs and is more obvious when the engines cold, this might help you with your issue if your still having one

Mine made a whine like a supercharger i went through 3 pumps trying to figure it out!

it turned out to be a knackered bearing on the roller just under the PAS Pump Thumbs up

Cheers everyone, I noticed when I added a little bit of CV grease the noise changed instantly. So i'm guessing it is this.

Many thanks,

Matt

One thing I noticed yesterday when filling up my screen wash, when I plashed a bit of water on the belt by accident it killed the sound dead. I didn't think a belt could make noise?

Thanks,

Matt
