only thing i can think of is check for mayo on the oil cap.

looks fine, well taken out too. Salvage engines are often good as they have come from damaged vehicles not end of life vehicles

With the cam cover broken, Cut pipes, I;d only pay scrap value for it as it's a gamble.

Pure gamble to be honest chap...

"looks" in fairly good condition with what appears to be a new oil filter on there which is a good sign.

Just do as others mentioned above, turning it oever by hand to make sure that its not siezed.

Just hope its not a tapper.

Today me & friend tested the engine
did leak down test,
we poold the engine out of dark

first we look at the spark plugs

and found one with tiny drop of green cooling liquid on it
it's the one in the 30mm socket

set the pressure to 100 psi

leak was good in 3 cylinders , 7% each.
then the last cylinder showed 50% leak,
we weren't sure if it was in TDC so we checked few more times, we poured some oil and it went to 40%
' then we did compression test , that resulted in 200 PSI in each.

I think that i pass this engine, still wonder if theres another reason for the readings, some fault of us .

surely if the engine is rare where you are then why not buy it, if it turns out to need some work then why not repair the engine

the reason is , the chance of cracked water passage
, i don't relay on aluminum weld repair .

Exactly what I was thinking, if youve been waiting 5 years for one buy it have the head and block pressure tested etc. If theres a problem then fix it or sell the parts on and get your money back!!

The seller is a private one ( he just keep his engines in his friend warehouse)
i don't know how he will behave if i demand to return the engine and get my money back, if the pressure test fail.
but i'll check you'r offer , thanks.

by the way , the cam cover looks fine to me.

that looks live a VERY early gti6 engine, so it may have been sitting for a very long time.

just buy it, you may never get one if you keep worrying and panicing about a problem that may not exist, sometimes you need to take risks.

A mechanic looked a the picture below and pointed that the leaked cylinder matched the flawed spark plug , theres oil singes on the plug indicating worn piston ring .

"panicking about a problem that may not exist"?
there's too much evidence gathered that i can't ignore, (one plug with coolant drop , other oiled and leaking bore)

"sometimes you need to take risks"
you right ,i took the risk 5 years ago, rebuilt the head myself , it worked for 3 months then blew up.
i cannot afford another failure.

with the age of these vehicles, and seemingly the rarity of them in your country you have to take the gamble.

someone must have made an error if your last one blew up.

I'm not limited to the borders of Israel,
in fact the owner of the warehouse where this engine stored, imports engines from England , and has a Warehouse
100 miles east of London,
i can and plan to buy engine from workshop after complete rebuilt, and import it by him,
but i could not found yet any available ready to ship engine.
