I thought about puting this in the security section but it's an electrical question so bear with me please Smile

The alarm sirn on my 6 has been knackered for some time now and I managed to find a fairly cheap new Xsara siren and bought it in the hope that it would be the older type of plug so it would be a straight swap.

Well, it's the newer three pin connection on the siren so obviously wont fit my wiring plug.

I have the loom and plug for the new siren, so my question is, if I chop the wires and attach to the existing wiring in my car, do you think it will work, or would I need to do anything else?

The new wiring has three wires Black, Red, Blue/yellow that correspond to the three pins.

The old 4 pin plugs only use three of the pins so my thinking is, if I just cut the plugs off and then solder the new 3 pin plug onto the existing wiring in the car so I can plug in the new siren.

In theory it sounds fine to me but any thought would be welcome on this

The new siren is a Texton 9639557480

Cheers guys Smile

I have not taken my old siren off yet but presume it's the same as all others (4 Pin Part no 96266287.80).
Four pins on original loom would be these type of connectors. Pic pinched from Nev Whistle

Here's the loom and siren from the Xsara kit I bought...

The loom for the new siren has a Black, red, and blue/yellow stripe cables on the main connector and a Black, and white/blue stripe cables which look to be for the bonnet switch.

Can anyone confirm if its the same wiring that connects to the standard 306 siren before I start hacking up all the wires?

If this works, it will be relatively cheap compared to buying a new siren from pug.

I have three brand new Citroen alarm systems for Xsara/Picasso/ which means I would have some various spares including wiring, control boxes, ultrasonics, and sirens.

If I get this working, then I may have these up for sale in the near future.

i cant see why it wouldnt work as its a simple voltage on, it makes a noise etc. nothing to do with the wiring controlling the trigger sequences.

i would go for it Smile

how much for a siren btw Smile

Thats what I'm hoping for. It's still a Texon unit produced for Peugeot/Citroen so hopefully its just the plug thats changed and nothing in the siren itself.

Not really thought about any prices yet as I wanted to make sure it will work before offering bits out to all you vultures fine fellows LOL

I was hoping to try this tomorrow but the weathers looking cack for the rest of the week and I dont have a garage to work in Smile

You have first dibs on one of the sirens when I sort it all out mate Thumbs up

I didnt look into how they work too much when unplugged. Looks like it mounts the same as the 6 one (2 bolts in the side) And while the connector is 4 pin, theres only 3 pins in the siren that looks the same as the xsara

Does that have battery back up? Its not essential (might get solid light on LED to indicate charge error) i'm just thinking it looks a bit small

As long as it behaves the same as the peugeot one you will probably be OK

ie: alarm triggered by voltage across (for example) A and B

voltage across A and C provide power for siren, and charges battery

Once triggered, siren continues for (about) 3 minutes and then stops, (leaving dash red LED flashing fast to notify driver)

Big question is will it sound the same or be the audio equivolent of the Xsara Laugh

That Xsara loom kit looks just like a phase 3 headlight adjustor connector.

I forgot to look to see if it has battery backup, just assumed it would.
Looks to be completely sealed so no way to look inside so will look at the manuals and see what they say.

Is the sound of the Xsara alarm different then?
I'v heard quite a few french car alarms and they all sounded like the six from what I can remember LOL

I think I am just going to put in the same place for now.
The way I see it, the original lasted a good ten years and cant grumble with that really Smile

Just checked and these sirens do have battery backup built in Smile
Just have to drill out the rivets holding the arch liner to the front bumper now to get to the old siren Dry

I took a quick look when I was sorting the rad fan out but need to see what wires on the car are live and so on before pairing them up as they are different colours to the citroen alarm wiring.

I am hoping its possible, but will have to see when I have some time.

If anyone happens to know what the original wires are to the siren, ie + - so on, that would be good.

306 Wires are...

Pin 1 - White 0127
Pin 2 - Beige 8604
Pin 3 - White 8605
Fourth wire - Green/Yellow

Citroen siren wiring is...

Pin 1 - Black
Pin 2 - Blue/ Yellow
Pin 3 - Red
Fourth wire - Blue/white.

I understand about grabbing a used one from a Saxo which has more chance of working than one from a 6, but it would still be used and a guessing game as to how long it would last.

This would be a much cheaper option for getting a new siren at the fraction of the cost new from pug Smile
