Hi all,
Used the car yesterday and window worked fine.
Drove the car today and the drivers side window will not work.

I can hear the relay clicking in the door when I push button in both directions but nothing happens.
Fuse is fine,

Swapped for a spare switch that I have and same result.
Passenger side is fine from both doors and mirror adjusters work fine.

Would this be the motor has packed up or something else that anyone can tell me about??

Cheers guys Smile

I assumed that if the switch is clicking, then there is power going through which would mean the wiring would be ok.

Or am I completely wrong on that??

Just mine fixed yesterday. My mirror switch still worked but couldn't operate either window from the drivers side, passenger side switch worked fine.

Had a few electricians have a look at it but they weren't 100% sure what it was. The guy who eventually sorted it said there were some wires in the door loom that were shot and this nackered the body control unit (that's somewhere behind the dash I think).

Cheers guys,

I forgot the most obvious check to do which I did today which was to press the switch while giving the door a good slam and Hey presto!
Window is working fine again LOL

I think the motor got a little jammed or muddled and needed a good slap Laugh

I've been having a few problems with the central locking bouncing open just after locking it. I opened up the big round connector near the door hinge and it was full of green shite.. I filled it with contact cleaner and then WD40 and it has worked fine since (well it did after a few attemps of window working but not speaker, speaker working but not central locking, central locking working but not window etc.....)

Yes, I had the central locking do the same a few years back which turned out to be the loom in the passenger side door being broken.

I am going to take the doors off tomorrow to inspect/repair but I am still not convinced it's a broken wire causing the window to fail, more like the motor/regulator.

We shall see Smile

Did you get it fixed mate? Reason I ask is mine is doing the exact same thing! Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not! The elec mirrors dont work either. At the mo' the drivers window is not working but the prev' owner said opening/shutting the door a few times cures it Huh?

Finally got round to taking a look at this today.
Got door off and found a few broken wires in the loom.
A Beige wire and a purple wire.
Also the thick Green/yellow (Earth I guess) was just about to let go so soldered them all and was lucky to have just enough cable on the plug end to do it, although was still a little tricky if you have big hands LOL

All put back together now and the window seems to be working but will see how that goes as I am not totally sure the window is the wiring but will find out over the next few days.

It did cure the passenger mirror which did not work from side to side, and the central locking still works so it was worth the effort Smile

Word of advise. Try and have someone to help when putting the door back on the hinges.
It's not easy to line up while holding the heavy door and trying not to damage anything! Roll eyes LOL

Yes, Cheers Jon, and am I glad I took your advise on only undoing those two bolts instead on the the other ones!
I would still be trying to do it now if I had Laugh my ass off

I would seem that my window is still playing up as I tested it on the way home and the intermittent stopping is still there..

I will get the door card off a check the runners and see condition of the clips and gromit as that's what I think it is now

Also, the led bulb for the clock time has blown as well so thats another stupid lil job for tomorrow.

Took the door card off today and the green clip holding the glass to the runner was broken. One of the outer tabs had split off and the inner peg was still intact.
The gromit was a little worse for ware as well but was not the clip I don't think, although it was not helping things.

I think the motor was dodgy or it needs regreasing.

I got another regulator and runner of a member last month, so cleaned it all up re greased the runner, and renewed the gromit and green clip and it has worked smoothly without fault today Smile

That spring clip behind the window is a pig to get out, I ended up looping a coat hanger through it to lever it out which made it a lot easier Smile

I also have a spare motor for later phases if anyone needs one, I bought 2 and they have different electrical connections.

Will also have a couple of new window runner clips that I need to pick up from the post office tomorrow.

I had the car apart and had a good green clip, so was not arsed to go down the P.O for the sakes of a clip LOL

Window now fixed and it's cooled off and p*ssing it down Cry LOL

I am having the same issue with mine at the moment but it seems that non of the elctrics for the doors are working after the car has been stood for the last... 3 months while i sorted my life out.

any idea or route to follow to see what might be the issue?

I have had an issue with the window not working when the door open, could this be related to it too?

Help!! lol

Bit of a thread resurrection but the driver's side window in my phase 3 HDI doesn't work. It sounds like the same issue as @asim_pug306 had as I have bought a new switch, new window regulator/motor and there is power to the plug and resistance through the wires with no breaks.

Any idea where the body control unit is?

Voltage and simple resistance measurement is not everything. The resistance must be low also at high loads. In other words the voltage must not break down when you push the window switch. Most probably the door loom will be knackered or the multi-pin plug connection corroded. Check this out. Wink A cable break is not always obvious as the insulator can still be intact. It could also be the relay in the fuse box but unlikely if the other side works.
