Phase 1 Smile

The lights are on, but nobody's at home!!!LOL

I can put in the imobiliser code, get the green light.

Turn the key, and nothing.

It *sounds* like a relay is trying to do something, but I'm not really sure - that's my limit of electrical/engine stuff.

Don't think it's the starter motor purely as this has happened before. I've come back to the car about 30 mins later, and it's started up fine.

Faulty immobiliser? IS it the starter motor?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Could be the starter, whats the battery like?

Check your earth cables are good too and you've got a good connection on the battery - they are tight.

Thanks for the reply Adam,

The battery is virtually brand new. The Earth hasn't been a problem so far, as the rest of the electrics seems fully operational.....

Out of interest, why do you think the starter?

Just sounds similar to a starter issue I kept having on my 205 with the starter solenoid. Does it make any difference if its hot or not?

Do you get a click when you try to start it or just nothing at all? You sure the battery terminals are tight?

The starter needs a lot of power, with a good connection, whereas other stuff can work with a less good connection.

Its taken nearly a month to get my V6 to start so I know your pain Smile

Usually an issue when cold. We do get a slight click when trying to start.

Will check the terminals are tight though.....

just checked - terminals are TIGHT!

If it's cold, would heating the starter motor help - hair dryer for example!!!

I know, I know - clutching at straws here, but you never know.....

Check the earth points on top of the gearbox are ok and clean as well. Also check the terminal on the starter is good too.

1. check lives + earths
2. check for 12v at starter soleniod

try bump starting it as this will eliminate starter fault

Is it a continuous clicking from the starter cause that would be battery or earth/live cables. If its one click from the starter then its probably a nakerd starter try hit it with a copper mallet (wouldn't want to damage it) and it might free off.
If its a small click from the relay change it and make sure the wire terminals are tight. you can sometimes squeeze them a bit with a small screw driver.
