Hi guys does anyone near Aylesbury know how to fit a clutch cable? And fancy helping me fit it.....

Don't mind paying for some help as my mechanical knowledge is poor to bad Smile

it snapped this morning and I'm going to get it recovered tonight to my house which Is near Aylesbury!

Also does anyone know what part I need to get and if I can get it off the shelf?

Many thanks for any help!

Mine snapped the other week, see my thread *Snap*. I managed to fit it, but as a lot of people on here will tell you, it isn't exactly easy. The part you'll need is number 2150T4 from Peugeot (approx

its not to bad tbh, i managed it on my own and it didnt take long, just make sure that the string/ cable you use is strong as mine snapped on me, still managed it ok though but it would of been even easier if the string didnt snap.
its ment to be even easier on a rallye

The most awkward bit was getting the plastic bit of the cable through the bulkhead. I used a lace to tie it to a braided hose I had, taped over all the rough bits and it just popped through.

Nightmare though on your own, needs two people really to keep tension on the string as you guide it in (ooerr)

Use the strongest string you can and get someone to help by pulling the aircon pipes out of the way.

Yeah you don't need to worry about aircon pipes/loosening the drivers side wheel arch etc on a rallye.

I had the same problem snapping the string but managed to re-hook it with a thick bit of solder cable I had lying about! LOL

So to stress that point, makes sure the string is very strong! Thumbs up

Other than that, once you are under the car/have undone the engine end of the cable, its fairly self explanatory what to do, its just tricky and a bit time consuming is all.
I changed it on a rallye though, so I didn't need to worry about air con pipes and I don't know how much more difficult that makes it.

Good luck with it, worth giving it a go!

The battery bit is just tricky (I didn't take the battery box off as is suggested on one of the FAQs) but I can't remember it being that difficult, iirc I kind of just pulled it through from under the car I think (was a while ago).

You will need a working jack though, and I'd get some axle stands too if you don't have any!

Never had it done at a garage mate sorry, probably about an hour's labour at a guess, but I can't be sure on that, took me more like 2 but I'd not really tried to do anything on my car before that!

Yeah it was his guide I was going from in the FAQ section.
I would go have a look under the car and just see where the cable routes. As when I was doing it I could see why it was so hard to get photos, which made it look like it was going to be really hard to do and worry I was going to mess it up. Just having a look gave me a bit more confidence to do it.
That said, if you need the car running asap and don't have time to fix it there's not much point! LOL

May be worth asking Carl what he charges just for a ball park figure, although you'd have to keep in mind that Carl is a specialist on these cars so can more than likely do it quicker than most!
