Recently changed my Lambda sensor (for 2nd hand one) due to overfuelling. Was working fine to start with but now i have a problem when starting from cold.

On first starting the rev needle doesn't move for at least 5-10 seconds then jumps up, if i don't keep the revs up the car will stall on me. Also when pulling away, especially when i get to 2nd,3rd or 4th gear the car hunts a lot until warmed up.

Is this the Lambda or is it the ICV which has been suggested to me already?

Cheers

Do you have an exhaust leak between the exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter? Could be that the firing ring has disintegrated and lets air into the cat effecting running until the manifold warms up and seals it tight?

OT: I am moving house soon ... do you have any more super sky deals? Whistle

Ok going to finally get round to sorting this problem out at weekend. quick question, can i clean the MAP sensor in anyway or does it have to be replaced?
I'm also going to clean stepper motor and check the coolant temp sensor. How is the best way to test the temp sensor?

Cheers

Right, had a bash at this today. Got ICV/stepper motor out and cleaned it with WD40 inc the housing.I also checked connection for the temp sensor. Took the Map sensor off but had no idea what to do with it so put it back on Laugh

After completing an ECU reset i have found the hunting seems to have gone. I only now have an issue on first start up where the revs jump over 1000 rpm then drop to almost a stall then go back up and settle on 950 rpm.

Any further ideas on this?

Cheers

Try disconnecting the plug from your throttle position sensor. They run fine without it; just revs a bit higher on start up, its free to try. Might need a mirror to see where it is tho (big white thing on the underside of throttle body)

I would replace the ICV. If you have cleaned your current one it may well be knackered beyond use.

Thought i would update this.

Looks like the Map sensor was the culprit.

Got one from CUJ on here and replaced it today, done an ECU reset then went a drive and no stalling at all. Was even trying to make it stall and it didn't Big grin. Hunting seems to have gone completely too.

Cheers for all the help Thumbs up
