Right i think i might have found an answer to my steering problems.

For those that don't know, i spent the last 2 weeks trying to figure out why the front end was swaying when turning left. I replaced balljoints and TRE's on both sides, and had a good look at the wishbones and struts/springs. Nothing seemed to cure it, but the TRE's made it a bit better.

Then all of a sudden something happened last night that made me think. A big f*ck off pothole.

A couple of months ago the N/S front wheel took a beating when driving round some B roads quite, erm, quickly. Ever since, this pulling sensation has been developing, getting gradually worse and worse.

And then last night i hit another pothole down a pitch black lane and the tyre's blown out.

So my question is.. would the tyre taking a beating a few months ago have weakened the sidewall without being visible to the naked eye, so when you put load on it it flexes more than it's supposed to, causing the front end to sway, in turn causing the TRE's to wear excessively?

That makes sense in my head, for once a pothole might well have *kinda* helped the problem!

Balls. Might have to just throw the steely on for a couple of weeks, can't afford to replace all the tyres, and it's pointless just doing one.

Wish i hadn't just spent £600 on a pram and car seat now Sad

is the tyre on the steely still alright? as i presume its been under there a fair while! if not, had a newish tyre put on the spare not so long ago, and thinking of ditching it for a can of tyre weld, think of all the weight saved!

says the person who does not have kids Roll eyes .... a quality pram and car seat is essential. You will be using the pram for the first 2-3 years per child ... so for two kids that is about £100 per year! We have just worn a hole in the first set of rear tyres and the inner tube has popped out.

I'd say there's possibly a bent wishbone or something there, certainly something not right.

I doubt a tyre on its own would have been weakened in any way to cause a pulling sensation unless you haven't been checking your tyre pressures....

My sister says EBAY FTW, £350 double buggy thing for £150 barely used, as they always are because they grow so fast, I agree with Adam!
