I am thinking of uprgrading the alarm system. I would like it to have a key fob but not too fussed about fancy extras (e.g remote start etc) aslong as it is secure.
Any recomendations?

Thanks for any advice
Lewis

I posted on here not long back about opinions of a clifford alarm and got no replys. I posted the same on 205gtidrivers and the general say so was cliffords are ok if installed well. If not they can be a pain in the arse. They all said go for the toad Ai606 instead. So I have ordered one. There is a guy on ebay selling them for what I think is a good price fitted and will fit anywhere in the uk.

I had a Sigma S-series alarm installed on the Porsche, which I'm happy with. Full closure, and a couple of other bits and bobs. IIRC Toad, Clifford and a couple of other brands are all actually owned by the same company nowadays anyway..

From my experience, it's the quality of the installer that is the key, not the brand of the box. Can be the best alarm in the world, if it's a crap install it'll keep going wrong, false alarms, the works.. So find someone good and go from there.

Yes I had a "Sterling One" on the Impreza, which was a Thatcham 1 and is the same company as Toad. It was very good, but be careful who you get to install it as many of the places that sell them use right knob heads.

I used this company Clicky

All I can say is stay clear. I have heard a lot of bad things about the company since I used them, and their customer service wasn't exactly great either. I only used them because local guys in the Yellow Pages were booked for ages, and the old alarm was knackered and effecting the central locking and indicators.

The above trade under GAP Security and employ random people to install the alarms and they all work on commisions, so they rush through a job to go onto the next one. The bloke who did mine turned up with his mate, both in normal clothing and a beat up old mondeo with a baby seat in the back Crazy

I would say he did an average job at best, and was a bit of a c*nt TBH, and his mate didn't speak a word of English.

what's wrong with the standard fit alarm?

probably cheaper to fix it if there's any issues than to fit an aftermarket one.

cheers for replies guys. The reason to change is that the key fob doesnt work so cant set it anyway and also the siren has gone and i heard that is expensive to fix. I guessed that it will cost loads to fix.
