You may well have checked when changing the driveshafts but I had a similar noise a result of loose subframe bolts. Although it was more like on 'clunk' when braking or pulling away.

Edit - Could also be the top mount, water tends to trap in the well and the chassis corrodes. Support the engine with a jack and take of the mount, should only take 20mins or so.

no i didnt check the subframe but will do it now the noise souunds like the engine is pressed against the chassis when pulling off but cant see any clean spots where it would be hitting is it worth just getting a bottom mount to try ?
cheers

Engine mount is probably your culprit.

If the bottom mount was the problem I would imagine it would be more likely the exhuast contacting the chassis (this also could be caused by a poorly mounted exhaust - I had this problem tooRoll eyes).

i think that means your cars a write off mate.

A sign of being crashed quite hard and then being repaired when it shouldn't have Wink

Cracked top engine mount cup, check under the big round engine mount, sounds like the usual problem.

Will check that when doing the mounts , is it easily welded if cracked ?

Very easy if you can weld ok, needs to be thick plate though, 3mm minimum or else it will just go again in no time, also you really want to chock the mount up with packers of some kind or else you will be doing it again at some point. Once done though it will drive smoother anyway as the engine doesnt rock back and forth anywhere near as much, why they didnt make the buffers fit better in the first place I'll never understand.
