Hey everybody. i need to replace my vacuum pump, loud knocking coming from it! traced the knocking to the vacuum pump so going to try changing that and an oil change.
ive found a clean looking one 2nd hand for

yes, its VERY easy, just two or three bolts secuting it to the head and a single vacuum pipe off the top of it.

lube the o-ring with a little engine oil before you fit the replacement, shouldn't take you any more than 5 minutes.

thanks welshpug, ill have a crack myself when it arrives. how hard is it to line it up with the cam shaft? wat oil would you use also welshpug?

Your best opening up your replacement and check it for shrapnel - if your knocking noise is a loud tapping/rattling noise then it will be that the flimsy little piece of tin that sits on the end of the drive gear needs its ears bending back a touch - did this on mine and almost completley shut it up Big grin

fitted new one today,myself. and it fixed the problem, no horroble knocking now

Vac pump was the first thing I did on the 6, got me into repairing stuff myself. you'll soon be replacing radiators mate Wink
