hi guys

has anyone got a pic of the route of the longer type throttle cable for the gti6, which is supposed to run over the rad please?

especially pics of any points at where the cable should be fastened. as i have a metal 'L' shaped bracket on my cable, but for the life of me, i have no idea where it might go

cheers Thumbs up

My ph2 used to have that setup clipped to the top of the rad, but I can't find any decent pics sorry Sad

As you're looking at the engine bay, the cable goes down the left hand side of the engine mount/cradle (ISTR it attaches to the engine mount area maybe that's what the bracket you have is for) then curls round runs along the top of the rad (clipped in by P clips to the lip of the top edge of the rad) then round towards the battery box, then round on itself again before it gets to the throttle body. Some tight bends in it and therefore places where it could stick/snag..

So most people (and ISTR the path on later cars) is to go in an S - curve round by the PAS pump/bottle area, over the cam cover and back round again to the throttle body. Like this:

If this helps at all!

thanks for that.

but could do with a better pic

i have the bracket which mounts to the engine mount, but i have an 'L' shaped bracket which is on the throttle cable and looks like it should fasten to by the battery box Confused

the cable has a rubber sleeve almost on the straight before it goes to tb. how is it held on the bracket which is bolted to the head ?

even looked on service box, but no luck

cheers

Not sure if it clips to the battery box, or just curves around there, from memory most of the clips were plastic and either tie it to other pipes or cables. I don't remember an L shaped bracket. Unsure

Not sure what you mean.. I've nicked some pics from various FAQs (none on the throttle cable, but of nearby areas) -

I think he is talking about the plastic bracket in the first picture you posted. If you follow the cable back from the TB upward, you can see the bracket attached to the head. This is a simple plastic clip that goes round the cable.

You will see a tab on the side of the battery box with a hole which is where you bolt the cable to.

What make of cable did you get?
