hello all

i have a BMC DIA air filter and i think its due a clean, whats the best method to cleaning the filter without buying the cleaning kit? (im a tight arse..)

Your better off being a tight arse on things like speaker pods than the thing that stops your engine going bang !

I just use a bit a soapy water and dry it out, worked a treat for me mate

Not sure if that will work on a cotton gauze filter, I don't see why it shouldn't though,
But I would recommend you by the filter oil at least though to put on it after you have washed it
I just wash mine when haynes says the paper filter has to be changed. so every 12k miles for me

I have a pipercross foam filter and I used hot water with fairy liquid in and used a soft brush to work the soap in, then I left it to soak for about 20-30 mins while I washed the car, then I washed it out using hot water then let it dry out over night and used the oil that came wit the filter.
