Can the headlights be adjusted in the horizontal plane? Last night driving in the fog, I noticed that my dipped beams seem to cross about 15 foot in front of the car!! I'm certain this isn't right.....

I have done a search on this but all that comes up is the vertical adjustment (which works fine on mine)

Thanks,

Nick

yes they can, I'd empty all the crap from the car, make sure the ride height wont be changing any time soon, then make sure the adjusters are free (usually are on the 306, often tight on the 205+309)

Then call into your local MOT garage.

Yes look carefully and there should be two screws at the back of the headlight unit - the more obvious one attached to the electric level adjuster will be for vertical, the other one will be for horizontal. ISTR they're both allen key/hex bits.

You can adjust them yourself, I used this guide to do mine - basically you park a set distance away from a wall on level ground and mark out the "cut-off" shapes with some tape. Mine got through a few MOTs done by hand that way.

Thanks for the replies. Am I right in thinking that the horizontal adjuster will move the whole headlamp unit rather than just the bulb (like on the vertical)just trying to work out where the actual horizontal adjuster is situated.

Cheers,

Nick

So does anyone know exactly where the horizontal adjuster is?? I have had a good look round the lamp and can't find anything.

Crazy I don't know, I don't have the car in front of me! I know I managed to find them OK..and that was in a dark car park with an LED torch for light. Mind you I had genuine Valeo/Cibie lights, ph2 and then later black masks, maybe it's not the same on pattern ones? Unsure

Seriously dude, where on earth were you looking?! I found this in about 10 seconds, despite the fact I'm p*ssed, it's raining, dark & I've no torch.. LOL It's the only other thing on the back of the headlight that obviously takes a hex bit/screwdriver...

HTH Thumbs up

Thanks Mr Spanner!! Pictures are always good!! I did see that and I have stuck every different size of allenkey in there, but nothing happened! I'll have another look later.

Thanks,

Nick

It could be, might be just as quick to whip the lamp out and have a good look at it.

Cheers,

Nick
