As some may remember, I sold the Rallye in December. Miss it big time!
Thought I would go without a car for several months due to not needing a one apart from the odd weekend use here and there… and in that time, be able to carry on saving for property or something RWD – for which I had been keeping an eye out for several months, as you do.

Then, not too long after letting the Rallye go, something popped up, a model I had always wanted, in the colour I would’ve wanted, in the spec I would’ve wanted. So I went for it.
Not too popular amongst many people in this club, and I doubt the colour will go down well with others, but hey, I love it Love

2004 / under 33k miles / one owner after Honda / FHSH.

Oh, and before you tell me, I already know….

VTEC just kicked in…

yO!

Saw a nice black one once with a fantastic stainless throaty twin pipe system - VTEC's usually lack the bassy note but that was spot on.

Think they're a cracking car, somewhat unusual. Digi dash is win.

Laugh

Thanks for the comments. Very much mixed opinions... just as I expected!

Yes, have heard horror stories about the back end letting go, will have to take it easy until the roads are less greasy.

My brother's got an s2000, used to have an MR2 turbo and could drift that. He found the s2000 difficult to drift at first but you do get used to it he says. He's getting pretty good at it now, not amazing like these crazy japs in Silvia's but you know what I mean.

One thing you may notice is that it has literally no guts out of vtec. It has enough to pootle about, but you put the toe down to pull out of a junction and if you don't give it enough revs because you're not used to it yet it'll just bog down. But then again we were both used to turbo'd cars when he first had it, the MR2 turbo was just incredible under initial acceleration, and the 306 TD is great at pulling out of junctions with it's stupidly short first gear (feel free to take the p*ss out of me for being mr diesel if you want).

Of course it could feel like a GTi6/Rallye engine at low RPM, I've never had any experience of the GTi6 engine.

Enjoy it matey, you'll probably never own another road car that sounds as good as an s2000 in vtec.

Edit - hehehehe:

clicky

Yes my mate's boss let him have a go in his literally hours-old new S2000 and wrote it off sideways into a lamppost. Doh Unsurprisingly, he doesn't work there any more.. Shut up

(btw my mate was a total plum for doing that, but he's not without talent - his main driver at the time was an E34 M5 which he drove mostly sideways everywhere).

Anyway, nice car - just mind how you go! Thumbs up

Nice choice Chet, lovely cars although i think they look better without the roof Yes

A 2004 should be the revised version so while the rear may be a bit snappy it shouldnt be as crazy as it was on the first versions No

I like th colour, needs some dark 5 spoke alloys though Ninja

Thanks Tom.. In contrast I like them better with the hard top! In any case, its removable anyway so the soft hood can be utilised. Maybe, maybe, when we get our 7 days of summer heatwave, even that will come down! It takes 6 seconds, for the record Whistle.

Yes, being a 2004 model, its the 'phase 2' facelift which also benefits from a revised suspension setup [which is softer I believe]. Still, on the S2ki forums, at least one or two S2000's were getting written off during the snowy period - though I suspect this could well be the case across many RWD car forums.
