Did a search and couldn't find anything similar?

Basically, I have only just noticed when I got out of the car to de ice the windscreen at night. Sometimes it happens and stays lit, other times I turn the ignition off and back on again and the light has gone or has dipped.

It is basically shining through where the rear view mirror is connected. I have circled it on a picture of my 6.

Any help appreciated.

Surely the light shouldn't be on? I've never noticed it before?

Yes, it's the light that allows it to judge how much water is on the screen.

The light is reflected/refracted to another sensor in the unit.

The light will be on whenever the wipers are set to intermittent.

The reason you've maybe not noticed it is because it resets everytime you turn the ignition off. So, if it's set to auto and you turn off/on the car it will no longer be active.

Are there supposed to be two lights on the sensor, one either side?

Only my auto wipers don't seem to be working as well as they did, but I have noticed that there is only a light on the drivers side.

If someone knows or could check that would be great!

Dave, mine has two, one either side. It's like a lit up rectangle.
