Updated vid, much better quality imo!

Just done what 24seven suggested and nothing sounds untoward, just like i thought it would! LOL

Each of the 4 times sounds the same to me!

Sound's fine dude.

Where did you get the fuel hose from? Does that go straight on to the pipe fittings at the side of the cambelt area.

From listening to that video it sounds like you've got a fairly smooth runner there. When doing a compression test as long as all cylinders are within roughly 10% of each other, which yours are, then there's nothing to worry about - that engine certainly doesn't sound like it's lost compresion on all 4 cylinders!! Over time piston rings do wear so the pressures will drop a little. If you were to do the test again with wide open throttle those figures would go up.

When was the oil last changed? It always helps quieten an engine a little if you have good quality fresh oil in it.

Cheers Jaydog! IIRC they do straight on. Its previous owner (Dan) changed the fuel lines as the old ones were knackered!

I don't know, I've got headphones on and I can definitely pick out a bit of a knocking/deeper sound underneath, not the usual ticking sound from the top. Dunno

Mind you these engines always sound pretty dodgy when recorded on a mobile phone LOL

Just a bit of thread revival as I have just remembered the final update to this 'problem'. My local garage looked at it and so did a Citroen garage, both say thats its not a tapping problem. Since then she has had a service with some 10w-40 and sounds a lot cleaner Big grin
