mxcrazy, DSrSarty on the 205 drivers forum has a similar spec engine producing over 230 bhp and about 190 lbft's with a stock exhaust cam, Peter Taylor stage 1 inlet, sandy brown/colin satchel throttle body inlet and emerald ecu.

I have seen said build, if i say 210bhp now, if i see more then that makes me double happy Big grin i was thinking emerald, for the customer service, throttle body wise i had a peek at bike TB's, but think id rather go with Jenveys etc. Bike tb's would be cheaper, but will they work aswell? i want to use stock rods, the crank is easy enough to get hold of, the pistons arnt breaking the bank, the block i can get bored for naff all (helps knowing the guys from Weslake), im not paying someone to do a massive port job on the head, i can get the seats cut properly, reasonably cheaply too. Im trying to keep it as budget as possible.

Thats what i like to hear! flap wheeling it just to give it a uniform finish is about all it would get, plus if the valve seats need blending slightly to the ports. Same story with the inlet manifold if it needs it. I dont know if the valves need un-shielding atall, ill have to have a look at it closer first. I know my old CRF250 mx bike needed material moving from around the edge of the valve area to get better low lift flow.

Sorry for the thread jack Whistle

Oh theres nothing to take away from you, just seems slightly unconventional, but as i say probably every day to someone, 'if everyone was the same, the world would be a boring place'. I wish you luck and hope you see the power you want, keep us updated. Wink

i wouldnt say that, this close to Christmas i think the site may be a little slower than usual? i dont know though. I like all the engine builds and more technical side of things personally.

I nearly bought a zx16v a couple of weeks ago too.

Don't be put off - it's Xmas Smile

Are you planning on raising your redline?
With hydro lifters probably not, but any plans?
Airflow should be good for higher revs.
I know, then you need to cool internals...

no need to raise the redline if its not making power up there Wink

what you will be held back by in a big way is the spark management, without a decent map and tps signal the ecu wont have a clue what's going on apart from engine speed, and wont have a map suitable for the carbs.

If you're on carbs you'll get the most from it by fitting something like the OMEX 100 or 200 ignition system an 8 valve 106/306 coilpack or a vauxhall coilpack and some 16/1800 vauxhall XE plug leads from a 16v engine (corsa b sri/gsi etc)

or if you think you miught go to throttle bodies later on get an ecu capable of running the whole lot and just run the spark for now.

Always thought that higher lifting cams with longer lift durations coupled with TBs allow for the powerband to be raised (on Hondas stage 2 means your VTEC engagement point still has insufficient airflow and the fuel cut-off at 8100 RPMs is too low to take advantage of your setup) Dunno

Of course more fuel needs to be pumped through bigger throughput injectors, but then you get much heat that you need to deal with... Imagine oil flow can be a problem... ignition timing is just an icing Smile

Hehe, think I will leave mine stock Smile

Sounds good, get some pics up.

Are you leaving the rear beam standard when you rebuild it? Would be an ideal time to upgrade a few bits?!
