Hi All.

I have recently been having issues with my car where i heard a reasonably loud pop and now i have lost alot of power to the engine. It also now seems to sound like a Subaru on a bad day while i am driving about. A friend on mine told me that it could be the coil pack?

All help appreciated guys and gals i need my car back on the road ASAP.

cheers

Sounds like either a misfire, caused probably by one of the coil packs packing up, or because the cambelt has slipped a tooth and timing is out.

You can easily check for the former; unplug each of the coil packs in turn and see if the car runs worse - if you find one that makes no difference, then that cylinder wasn't firing in the first place.

Could it be a cracked plastic resonator below the inlet manifold?

Good point John. Could well back that.

Could also just be a cracked exhaust or manifold.

How much power has it lost?

Same issues as mine except mine is definately running on correct number of cylinders Yes

With mine, it only seems a bit lifeless under 3krpm, after that is fine.

Is there any sensors that when under 3k, ECU relies on data from said sensor, then after 3k, uses the ECU map?
