Well I've not been around much for a long time but been spending a bit of time recently sorting the rallye out and using it again. It had taken a back seat as the past 2 years I'd got pretty serious about my mountain biking and more specifically my downhilling. However I recently (October) seperated my shoulder, grade 3 with completely torn ligaments.

Sorry to take this off topic but

I came back on here to try and buy my old charged 6 back (some pleb stripped it), my story is same as yours, no interest in cars for the last two years, also been doing DH riding, also f**ked my shoulder up.
What you ride and where you ride it? I've had a mixed year this year, got up to pace after winter then broke all 3 bones in my little finger and fractured a few others in the hand at hamsterley in May (not concentrating on one of the mainline drops), fingers still proper messed up but was back on the DH bike in July, got back to full pace again then smashed my collar bone into 5 pieces at the forest of dean late October (overshot a jump, landed half on the next jump, bike stopped dead, I carried on).
Other than the injuries its been a good year, rode forest of dean and hamsterley loads, wharncliffe and Hamilton hill are the closest DH runs to me so done them a bit also done cwmcarn and BPW in wales which was a good weekend

My downhill bike that I built from scratch

My new "enduro" bike, had a couple of rides around gisburn and Hamilton hill, awesome machine but my collar bone is still in 5 pieces held together with a plate and pins and hasn't fully healed yet so ive been taking it steady, cant afford another big off for a while

I ride wharncliffe and greno quite a bit. Also, Esholt, and Edenfield. I'd had a few trips to Stile Cop this year as well as a number of uplifts at Hamsterley, LLangollen, Revolution and Stiniog.

Then its the usual trail centres or local natural stuff on the trail bike.

I'd pushed the limits of my trail bike in the Alps this year, and so built up a big bouncer in August. Been getting really quick over the space of 2 months as I got comfortable on it and then the slowest of crashes and I fecked my should, not been on a bike for 8 weeks now as my shoulder is far from right, currently doing physio each day.

Specialized Status that I've built up from scratch which is my new big travel bike (just waiting on finding some reasonably priced 40s for it)

And the run just before doing my shoulder

Then the Specialized pitch that I've now turned back into a bit of a pedaller again- done me well for the past 3 year.

Cheers. Yeah, be good to get it back out.

I've lost touch with a lot of who provides what etc etc. Been playing with and old VW camper the past few years so totally different and theres a lot more availability of parts for the vintage VW's!

So its been a fair while but at the turn of the year I decided to get the rallye back up and running.

6 years sat on a damp driveway hadnt done it any favours.

Started with a full service and belts etc

Had a cracked/leaking sump so that was replaced.

Doing the work on a driveway in the ice and cold wasnt great but they I was floored with covid and it put a stop to things for a few months.

Then after getting over the worst of Covid. I made a start on sorting out the rear end. Refurbished Xsara beam with the bigger bars.

New rear brake lines, brakes, etc

All the underfloor/ arches treated and recoated etc.

Then I got on with the front.

Required some welding. Sent off the coilovers for a rebuild as Im not sure the old GAZ shocks would be up for much anymore haha

So brakes had a clean up, repairs, treatment, painting etc to the underside and arches. Coilovers painted up and fitted.

Then I had a quick sort of the interior.

Needed some work at the back and ended up trying fabric dye on the seats as a cheap/temp tidy up as they have been sun bleached.

Noticed the rear beam wasnt level, its was about 15mm out from either side, plus wanted dropping a little more to level it up.

So had a play with the beam to get it sitting how I wanted. It took a lot not to put it back on its arse again. But Im older now and cant take the beating the same

Leveled up and sitting just how I wanted it tbh.

Finally we moved at the end of May and I now have some where proper to work on the car, no more driveway/in the rain/ snow/ ice car fixes.

Managed to get a few laps in on a local track evening (3 sisters) and its the first time I've been on track with the LSD. It was hammering it down with standing water and I was impressed how much grip I still had.

Few last niggles to sort and want to finish refurbing my track wheels. Just got some DS3000 pads to go on and plan to get a few winter/spring trackdays in and get back into it.

Also still got the standard rallye interior (dug everything out of storage when we moved house)

Also gave it a quick going over with some Compound as the bodywork is pretty bad, lots of bird s**t burns etc. But may go for the "touring car decal" look with it for a while (cover up the worst of the bodywork) until Ive had some fun on track with it and decide if Im going to sort it all out.

And that covers the last 9 months or so and brings it up to date!
