I havent been worrying about my car for a while but just wanted a second opinion on it

Recently Ive had quite thick white smoke pouring out the exhaust, doesnt seem to be just when I start it either

I have been a bit slack on topping the rad up (hasnt had any unusual stuff happen to the temp or heaters) and looked today - it was so far down I couldnt see it! Going to check where it is tomorrow when its light

And the last tank I did (without driving particularly hard) got 250 miles from 55 liters; would normally expect 300 miles from 50 Unsure

Are these things cheaper to fix if you catch them early? Time for a visit to carls?

Better get it checked out asap mate Sad

At least if you do catch it early you have less of a chance of warping the head badly

Is the high fuel consumption a symptom of head gasket failure tho?

*edit* read that it can but only after misfire - doesnt seem much down on power and I dont think its missing Sad

Mine went from a slight pink to two cylinders in 15 miles. I guess you might as well drive it until it goes wrong really, although I am wondering if i've burnt a channel in the head between the cylinders. Will find out soon - it will be back and better for the next 140k Smile

Mine had blown between all cylinders and blown into the coolant system on cylinders 1 and 2 and it was still producing some decent power, enough that I was driving it around for ages before I got it up to CarlsLOL

Dont forget to check the heat exchanger first, as this can cause head gasket symptoms!

I think I'm worrying over nothing. Fluid hasnt gone down since last week and smoke is not there when the car is warmed up.

Bet its just the condensation in the exhaust and after a while it gets burnt off.

Teaches you for driving to the end of the road for the morning paper and back.
