No, you don't need to reset it No

What lambda sensor did you fit?

It needs to be an OEM Bosch item, and don't trust a second hand item. Anything else I wouldn't trust, and it won't last.

If you have fitted a new OEM Bosch lambda, and it's still being jerky and giving poor MPG [which are the two main characteristics of lambda failure] I would get it plugged in and see if any other sensors aren't operating within their normal parameters.

CTS and MAP would be the next to look at.

well I'm happy to report the fuel usage on my rallye is awesome Smile I get 300 at least from town driving including lots of booting it and on the motorway have seen over 450 from a tank on a long journey. One of the most practical performance upgrades ever in my eyes Big grin

well... my issue is the collapsing silicone hose on the fmic. At part throttle its almost shutLOL Hence cause it to run rich as theres no adaptation after the charger really! So hard piping is on its way. Injectors have identical flow rate.. its the spray patter thats different.. which i went for due to injector angle and spacing!

I would have thought it will have 'Bosch' stamped on the part somewhere.

I never had a big issue with collapsing pipes, just make sure you have solid piping as close to the charger or other joining pipes as possible. You still need silicon joiners in various places to allow the system to flex as the engine moves independatly to the IC which is obviously fixed solid.
I didn't get an issue in the 5-6000 miles I did in mine by having a silicon joiner on both inlet/outlet of the IC, under the front of the car where the right angles meet the pipes from above to the ones to the IC, on the outlet of the charger and same again on the inlet to manifold, just make sure you push the solid pipes right into the silicon till they almost touch.

I have some spare length and pieces of aluminium boost pipe if anyone needs it plus a right angled silicon reduction elbow.

Mabz,

The problem won't be collapsing hoses - despite looking almost shut, they won't be - a huge amount of air can get through a small gap. Also, if there was a blockage or the flow was strangled, this would be reflected by the pressure in the rest of the intake system - and the MAP sensor would see this and compensate for this. Also the lambda will compensate for this if the MAP doesn't.

Your injectors won't have the same flow rate. Even though they are rated the same.

The rating is on static flow - i.e. - when the injector is held open. This is useless, and goes out the window, as we are pulsing the injectors.

The reason your injectors won't flow the same as the Bosch 020 150 558's is:

- The charge time for the coil inside the injector will be different - i.e. how long it takes for the solenoid to respond electrical charge before opening
- The dead time will be different. This is the time it takes from the injector being de-energised to actually shutting.
- As the solenoid opens, the flow will depend on the mechanical design of the valve. This varies from injector to injector. It's like a progressive opening thottle body Vs. a normal one.

So, the bottom line is they won't flow the same!

Also, different injectors perform differently depending of the frequency at which they are pulsed [which depends on engine RPM].

Some injectors are very efficient - so if they are 440cc static flow rate [which is essentially 100% duty cycle], at 80% duty they will flow around 350cc/min. On the other hand, a less efficient, or lazy injector with flow less with the same pulse width, maybe only 300cc/min. This is because it's spending more time energising / de-energising than actually injecting fuel.

If you actually listen to me, fit the right injectors, I'm 99% sure your fuel economy and performance will improve.

Rich.

I have a nifty little 2" 90degree bend coupled to the charger outlet and then a reducer coupled to the other end which takes the pipework up to 2.5". Works a treat and doesnt collapse Yes As Rich said though i doubt that helps with the fuel consumption.

Took me hours to work out the bend radius and lengths of pipe just coming out the charger and around the aircon pump, it looks simple but in practice it took some head scratching, not having the aircon pump in the way gives you a nice hole to drop the pipe through!

^^^ That's one of the reasons my conversion took so long

It is possible but after I had the problems with the epas pump I ditched the aircon and the piping was much simpler

There's not a lot of space with the aircon pipes and pump

Ahh, at least you had the luxury of the front end off, when I finally got around to piping the intercooler, all the radiators were in place with air con re-gassed, it had to work at this point!

This aint fair what the hell is wrong with mine, it really struggles to start as well, like you have to give it some gas when its trying to start?

No Not that close, its a fair old detour to hook if you were heading down to havant. Hook is off the M3 whereas you would be taking the A3 down to Rich's. Still its in a similar direction Smile

We are but will be too busy to look at it in any detail..

If you want, pop it by, I can have a quick look?

I may try some different ECU software on it depending on which version it has.

Will be there until mid afternoon, our postcode is PO9 1JB.
