i got a gti 6 and the engine had a naughty tapping noise. it went to the garage today to get sorted and the tapping noise was due to a couple of loose spark plugs.
i got all my old plugs replaced and now the car has stopped tapping.

it also had a new clutch cable and feels spot on now im very happy lol.

hope this helps

Indeed can be down to loose spark plugs or noisey injectors or of course a bent value...

Question is, did they need replacing or just needed to be tightened?
Anyway, lucky you Wink

If ever in any doubt do a compression test, the guages are fairly cheap or could be borrowed for a drink of many garages. It takes minutes to remove the coil pack cover then the four coil packs and spark plugs.

Sounds common, I've heard of this happen on another GTI-6, however I removed four and then replaced them the other night and think you would have to be a complete cretin to cross thread one!
