Hi Fellas,

I bought my Rallye with a BMC induction kit fitted (not sure what spec) but it basically looks like a narrow dustbin sticking out the bottom of the car LOL

It sounds good and has a lovely rumble when you press more than half way on the accelerator, but I wonder if it's hampering the performance a little.

I ask because it seems if I'm accelerating lightly without the "rumble" then floor it, it seems like the car bogs down a little before it starts picking up again.

Does anyone else have one fitted and do you find the same thing?

Do you really see any kind of performance benefit with the kit installed?

Cheers

BMC should be better than standard as it has less heat soak and direct air feed. Is it a genuine one? do you have a air feed on it?

airfeed required. if its bogging down usually bad airflow.

mine is pritty quiet with the airfeed on until you hit the loud pedal. I dont bog down.

is it the correct bmc? it should be the 85 - 150 version (2.0l engines)

from your desciption it sounds like you havent got an airfeed fitted and it sitting low ready to suckup water and lock your engine

Thanks, I took some photos of the kit currently fitted, does this look right? The last shot is taken from underneath the car of course.

Why does it need a cold air feed? There will be shit loads of cold air enjoying itself down by the gearbox there, just waiting to be sucked up into the engine. Thats where my slightly custom/bodged K&N sits and I don't seem to have heatsoak issues. Not noticeable ones anyway - its not a blinking racetrack!

Filter looks pretty dirty - your problem could also be a sensor, say the TPS.

is that not the smaller BMC? how did you get the normal pipe on and keep the battery breather in place? not to mention there seems to be a big gap between the BMC and the clutch cable.

also it does look manky.

mine just fits between the clutch cable and the undertray.

ps whts the pink crap running down the side of it?

have the filter cleaned as its looking pretty dirty that way you will allow air to travel through it more freely, ive got a BMC on my 6 and had the main air pipe replaced by samco which helped with increased airflow cost

resurecting an old thread here but is that right to have the air filter down there - seems like asking for probems with dirt and water. Should the air filter not sit infront of the throttle body like most air filters on other cars? with a cold air feed bringing air through say the bumper and up to the filter????

if its sat up[ by the throttle body you will get alot of heat soak plus i doubt you would fit it in. where it is currently sat is perfect but i would have a cold air feed on it if it was mine.

personally i would get some venting and do a 180 degree upturn and connect it to the orignal air intake.
