hi all, just recently changed the cambelt. was bit tapping at first but after couple minutes the tapping gone. moreover, i went to motorway today 3 hours trip and engine doesnt sound like used to




tapper? should i go back to garage and show them what have they done ?

In what way does it sound different? When you rev?

when it's idle, there is a rattling/tickling sound from the middle. when i rev, the sounds doesnt get bigger i guess Big grin Big grin

I would say injector noise, or possibly loose spark plugs. Were the plugs changed by the garage?

not yet mate, i was gonna give a full service this week. you reckon it could sort the noise out ?

Hi

That sound a bit more ticky than my tapper used to sound so as above it could just be injectors.

If it didnt sound like it before though I would definitly take it back, the sooner you raise the issue the more chance you will have of them believing they may have caused a problem.

Get it back to them ASAP, as said the longer you leave it before going back the easier it will be for them to try and wriggle out of addmitting liability for doing something that may be causing the noise. Best not to do any servicing/remedial work yourself as they may try to pin the problem on you if you mention touching anything.

i know the mechanic and he is a nice bloke. done couple things on me car but that was the first time he touched me engine. as you said sooner the better, let see what he says tomorrow hope a good one Big grin

i had the same problem on my 6 after havin the timeing belt kit/ water pump fitted, it turned out too be the timeing belt was not tight enough which carl on here advised me to check which he was spot on , so may be worth a check Smile
