ok this to most experianced people will probably make you laugh at how rediculous im about to sound but was woundering if its possible to put a Vtec in my gti-6? as i think if i were to turbo it or supercharge it the police would quickly be on my case about it! i only ask this because i prevoiusly owned a 2.2 Vtec prelude and the kick it gave was AMAZING!!! and ive only had the car a few weeks and its just not quick enough anymore! Sad

I should imagine you can fit anything into anything. My sisters boyfriend is currently fitting a uprated 4.2 rover v8 into his manta gte. But stuff like that will cost you. Your best off upping the horsepower of your 6 or buying a different faster motor. Smile

Sandy Brown has fitted a 2.2 throttle bodied vtec into a 309. So it can be done. No small task though.

I just fitted an s2000 vtec in a mk2 escort. You would be able to do it in a 306 but to be honest i would just leave it in a civic, or if your hell bent on a vtec in a 306 i would go for the rwd s2000 engine and box and convert the 306 to rwd using an escort cosworth rear end setup

i think he meant is it possible to fit a VTEC type system to the 306 engine? that would be interesting.

anything is possible...

though a variable lift+timing like VTEC system is probably a bit beyond what you could do to them, can't imagine it being that hard to incorporate VVT like the gti180 EW engine.

I was going to use a 306 for my Honda conversion, I even bought one to use, but opted for the 309 as I prefer them and the weight saving was substantial (it weighed 900kg with fluids). The 306 measures up quite well for the H22 engine and box, but make no mistake, it is a massive task. I work wih an exceptional fabricator that made the mounts/shafts and did rest of the install myself (on DTA with TBs); but it was still a serious ball ache to do a good job. If you want to see it through, the H22 is much better value than the newer engines it's also smoother and makes a nicer noise IMO.

Make bugger all difference to the power, just change the throttle response.

Probably because the car feels faster with a bigger one on.

Bigger throttle body = bigger throttle opening for smaller pedal movements = car 'feels' more responsive.
