when i done the wheel bearing on my car my mate noticed i had a gear box leak!

i have noticed more and more now that it cruches going into gear and sometimes wont go in!! i know annoying.

the leak isnt soming from where the driveshaft is its the other side by the block! im unsure whether to buy a new gear box incase the syncro mesh is fooked or to find patch the leak up!

but there is alot of oil around the gearbox that side!

do you reckon the bolts have come loose and need tightening or any other reason??

cheers ken

Most likely culprits are the driveshaft seals and the selection arm seal.

Fix the leak and top the oil up and it will more than likely be fine, but if you keep running it while it's low on oil then you could damage it badly.

could you have damaged a seal when doing the work needed to change the wheel bearing?

Yes. To change the bearing you'd have to remove the driveshaft. And if you mash the seal up when removing/replacing the shaft, it'll leak. Only if you're not careful though.
