Was giving the car some of the loud pedal earlier and noticed the stop light and oil light flickering off and on a few times, so backed off a little, then it came on permanantly, so pulled over to check under the bonnet to see if i could see any obvious signs to the problem, couldnt see anything wrong and engine sounds just as it did before, even if it does sound bad with a nice tap from the head lol, started it again and the light was still on.

Oil level is fine
Oil temps where fine (gauge working)
Had planty of coolant in
Engine temps where fine

Could this be a faulty oil pressure sensor ? is it the grey one above the oil filter ?

Any suggestions

Dan

You either have (very) low oil pressure or a false reading from the sensor. There is nothing else that would bring the oil warning light on.

It could be a faulty sensor, they do fail, I had one go.

Or it could a corroded multiplug or other cable issue.

Check the connection, change the sensor and see what happens.

If it is an oil pressure issue you will know about it VERY soon.

What oil are you using Dan?

Unsure

Using total quarts 10w60 iirc

I guess my next task is to go over the wirring and have a butchers as to what the problem may be, then if i cant find a fault, change over the pressure sensor, it is the grey one above the oil filter right ?

Could be a snapped oil pump drive chain...Yes

Best thing to do is to change the sensor, and see what happens. If the light still comes on, maybe whip the sump off and have a look?

Stan.
